Highlights

Parque Nacional Isla Magdalena
Fiesta del Pesca'o Frito

Puerto Cisnes is a fishing village on the eastern shore of the Puyuhuapi fjord across from Parque Nacional Isla Magdalena. The village, named after the area's flagship bird the black-necked swan, is accessible by boat or via the Carretera Austral. Just south of the Queulat Pass south of Puyuhuapi, head west on the paved X-25 for 30 km.

Many tourists choose the port town (or its northern neighbor, Puyuhuapi) as the launching pad for an excursion to Parque Nacional Isla Magdalena, the large island located between the Moraleda Channel and Puyhuapi Channel (not to be confused with another Isla Magdalena located in the Straight of Magellan near Punta Arenas).

Each year during the last weekend of January, the village hosts its annual Fiesta del Pesca'o Frito. The celebration features music, dancing, and a large marketplace filled with local artisan products.  The festival's centerpiece is the donation of a house to a low-income family. During the festival, the house is escorted by local fishing boats and floated to it's permanent location.
