Key Spanish Phrases for Your Bike Tour

A tour through Patagonia is more than doable without mastering the Spanish language. That being said, a few key phrases and words will go a long way toward enhancing your Patagonian experience and improving your communications with locals and other travelers.

Tips

  • Practice some basic phrases and words with one of the many free, online tools. We recommend the free mobile application/website Duolingo.
  • Memorize numbers in Spanish. This will come in handy at supermarkets, hostels and anywhere else you’re engaging in a monetary transaction. While it’s very rare to be “scammed” by shop owners in Patagonia, like anywhere in the world, this can happen. Protect your wallet by knowing the difference between sixty (sesenta) and seventy (setenta).
