Reserva Nacional Coyhaique is a national reserve in Aysén, Chile, located ~5 km from the regional capital of Coyhaique. The reserve is connected by a network of trails shaped like an "8"  – the trails in the southeast of the reserve (Los Leñoros, Los Carreros, and Laguna Verde) feature excellent scenery and inspiring miradors (viewpoints).L

The entrance to the reserve is located just off the Carretera Austral, immediately south of the entrance to Camping Alborada. From the Austral, follow the gravel road uphill for 1.5 km (+400m in elevation) to the entrance. There are gates at the front entrance with strict hours (open: 8:30 - 15:30).

Los Leñeros – Laguna Verde

Day Hike/Walk

Distance: ~9 km

From the reserve's entrance, the Los Leñeros hike follows a short ~2 km trail – featuring stunning views – to Casa Bruja. From there, continue for ~2 km to reach Laguna Verde, a great place for a picnic.  A trail circumnavigates the lake. From Laguna Verde you have two options: turn around or continue on the Los Troperos trail to complete the full loop (~11 km in total).
